We believe choosing a massage school is personal and important and hope you will
look carefully at the schools you are considering for what they offer to you
personally, and educationally. And, then make your decision based on written
materials, referrals, visits, the school's personality, and conversations with
teachers, current students and graduates. The decision to go to massage school
will mean a change in your lifestyle, as well as a wonderful addition to your
capacity to care for others. It is fun, hard, scary, exhausting, but most of
all rewarding.
Staff
We have a terrific staff. They are capable and caring, and the students tell
me often how much they like and respect their teachers. We ask students to
work very hard and they are succeeding wonderfully! When you visit our school,
take time to visit with the students, teachers and supervisors, you will learn what
the school is really like.
All teaching and supervisory staff are Nationally
Certified Massage Therapists. We hold the student's learning experience in
highest regard and help them become highly professional massage therapists with
a thorough foundation in academic and hands-on skills.
Curriculum
Our rigorous 650-hour program includes classroom lectures and practical
instruction, advising, testing, and out-of-class experience. AKS graduates
are well prepared to take the National Certification Examination in Massage
and Bodywork, to enter the workplace, and to continue in advanced studies.
The graduates are always welcome to use AKS Massage School as a reference and
a resource.

We present lecture topics with a focus on their application to the
field of massage and bodywork. Practical body work, related to the current
discussion topic, is taught in a lab setting with experienced supervisors and
teachers. AKS invites its adjunct lecturers and supervisory staff to share
expertise with the students. See our website for more about adjunct lecture
topics.
The curriculum begins with challenging anatomy and physiology lectures
and labs teaching traditional European Swedish massage. Students progress to
more advanced techniques and skill levels, such as deep-tissue massage, myofascial
and trigger-point techniques, pregnancy, side-lying, and Eastern Traditional
Chinese massage. Students attend additional lectures and classes in topics that
introduce them to a broad range of modalities and they may choose to receive
specialized education by attending advanced classes at discounted fees. These
lectures are typically offered Friday evenings, Saturdays and some Sunday
afternoons. If you would like more information about on the Event Calendar page.
