I am a trauma-informed licensed massage therapist and Trauma Touch Therapist. What this means is that I help people feel safe in their bodies again. 

One of the long-term effects of trauma is that the mind often determines that the body "isn't safe to be in anymore." This is called dissociation (not to be confused with Dissociative Identity Disorder).

So it will disconnect-- leaving the person constantly feeling like that part of their body "isn't theirs"...

... or they always feel tense/tight/hurting, but no medical reason can be found...

...or they are touch-averse (don't like to be touched at all, by anyone, for any reason), and they don't want to stay that way...

...or they are going through a really intense medical situation like cancer or some other complex medical condition-- with all the associated poking and prodding-- and it seems like every sort of touch just hurts anymore...

...or they've experienced abuse or an assault and they need help feeling safe in their body again...

...or any number of reasons why the thought of going to "just any massage place" just dosn't feel safe.

I also offer massages for people who are generally stressed-out and need to get some deeeeep relaxation (hello, moms whose kids have just started back to school! I see you!), prenatal massage, and manual lymphatic drainage sessions (especially helpful for folks who have had cosmetic surgery or reconstructive surgery). 

Before your first appointment with me, we will have a video consultation so we can get to know one another a bit. This consultation gives us the opportunity to go over your health history, needs and goals for your sessions, go over my policies, discuss expectations, and to ask any questions that you may have.
