With a steadily increasing stream of news about organic foods, it can be difficult to sort through it all. While many factors (availability, price, quality) play a role in the decision to purchase organic, pesticide contamination may just be the most important factor of all. The Environmental Working Group has compiled an updated Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce to help. This downloadable chart lists the “dirty dozen,” or those items most contaminated when grown by conventional means and, therefore, excellent organic options; peaches and apples top the list.
