Thai Healing Alliance is Born

Traditional Thai massage is quite new in the West, 15 to 20 years old at best. Yet in the past few years, it has become increasingly popular. It has been showcased on magazine covers and in newspaper articles and is now considered one of the fastest growing healing modalities in the United States. But there is no bona fide certification process for Thai massage that is legally acknowledged and administered anywhere outside of Thailand.

Enter the Thai Healing Alliance Inter-national (THAI), a nonprofit organization based on voluntary participation, offering membership in various levels, with corresponding study and practice requirements. THAI sets a standard of practice, a barometer by which to gauge serious practitioners and teachers of traditional Thai healing arts. In its few months of life, THAI has already attracted Thai massage professionals from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Caribbean, and of course, Thailand.
Member benefits include an annual membership certification, the title of RTT (Registered Thai Therapist), a subscription to the Living Traditions newsletter, advertising opportunities, and a client and student referral service. All members have access to a special section of the website containing a database and profile page for each of them, an archive of articles and research on Thai healing traditions, links to members’ websites, news items, special offers, and discounts on related products and services.
