Call For Proposals

The Massage Therapy Foundation is asking for submissions for both research grant proposals and community service grant proposals. Research grants are awarded to individuals or teams conducting studies that promise to advance the understanding of specific therapeutic applications of massage, public perceptions toward massage therapy, and the role of massage therapy in healthcare delivery. To be considered, recipients must have experience in the relevant field of research and must be presently associated with a university, research organization, or qualified institution. Winners are chosen based on significance of the proposal, scientific merit, capability to perform the research, and appropriateness. Summaries of past research grants, which have ranged from $1,000 to $20,000, can be found at www.massagetherapyfoundation.org/grants_past research.html. Deadline for submissions is March 1.

Community service grants are awarded to organizations that provide massage therapy to groups that have little or no access to such services. Organizations must have been in existence for at least one year; be considered a nonprofit charitable organization; and currently provide some therapeutic service programs to the community. Applicants can request between $500 and $5,000 for the proposed project. Deadline for submissions is April 3.

Guidelines and applications for both proposals are available at www.massagetherapyfoundation.org.
