Generalized Anxiety Relief

Anxiety abounds in our daily lives. For some individuals, this may lead to Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), which is characterized by edginess, poor sleep patterns, muscle tension, irritability, and a lack of concentration. The stress brought on by the associated worries can present in a variety of physical manifestations, as well. GAD is traditionally treated by a medley of antianxiety and antidepressant medications, all of which come packaged with side effects. In his newsletter Self Healing, Dr. Andrew Weil promotes the use of natural approaches to remedy the powerful effects of anxiety and eliminate the need for pharmaceuticals. From breathing exercises, meditation, and aerobic activities, to acupuncture, an appropriate vitamin regimen, and the avoidance of caffeine, there are a wide range of treatments that may help those suffering from GAD. The soothing effects of massage may also be ideal for reducing the physical ailments brought on by GAD.
