Hello, I appreciate your time in reading this. I know there are hundreds of massage therapists and body workers out there and it can be difficult to find the right fit. Let me tell you a little about me and my approach, so you can decide.

I have 12 years of professional therapeutic massage experience, working mainly in a clinical and rehabilitation capacity with people recovering from accidents, injuries, surgeries and joint replacements. I have a double bachelors in Biology and Psychology and a background in medical research.  My life-long passion is understanding how to awaken the healer within, through a stronger mind-body connection. I learned this first hand when dealing with my own health issues. Graduating from the Edgar Cayce Center of holistic health and  massage therapy in 2005 gave me a great foundation.

Before your first massage, we’ll spend some time discussing your medical history and any conditions which are affecting your body’s function. I will assess your posture and your gait because they tell me a lot about how your body is coping and compensating with old and current injuries. I will ask you about your prior experience with bodywork, what has worked in the past and what has not.  Then I will give you my recommendations on what areas I think we should address and why.

I have a full body approach, because nothing in your body happens in a vacuum.  Even when pain seems localized, there are many more areas involved than what we are aware of.  My job is to find them and then help release them, while guiding you through this process.

I want this to be a partnership, where you are informed, involved and empowered in your body therapy.

This is why it is very important that we keep an open dialogue throughout.  I need you to be engaged, because the tendency to disconnect from pain by intellectualizing it or ignoring it, does not benefit you and slows down healing. We will use breath work, and directed attention during your treatment so that your mind and body work together in balance.

On future sessions, as we learn to work together, there will be more time to just let go and drift off, because it will become more like a coordinated dance. However, at the start of every session we need to discuss what has changed since your last visit, and if your goals are different now, so that we can move in the right direction.

If needed, I will also use several different tools during your session, such as heat, ice, essential oils, medicated lotions, electronic massagers and one of my favorite tools: the FasciaBlaster.  I use the FasciaBlaster to increase circulation, and break up adhesions or bound areas in your tissues. It gives me much faster results with less pain and discomfort for both of us!
